Q: What sort of issues might I be dealing with regarding my friends, family and relationships?
FP: If you’re not getting the support needed from your family. I suggest you use it as a motivational tool. My brother-in-law always told me I would never make it, and to get a real job. Even after I would the Academy Award his response was that I was just lucky. “Do it again and I'll believe you" he said. My answer to him was, MY MIDDLE FINGER.
Q:What are good practice habits for musicians?
FP: Practice is great, but it’s not practice that always helps. It’s perfect practice that makes perfect. Learn the right way from the beginning and than start to practice.
Q: What are good practice habits for singers?
FP: As a singer I would hum a lot. Humming, I'm told is a good practice to connect your diaphragm to your throat muscles. Try it as you warm up before singing. Additionally - and just as important – do it after you have finished. Just like a race hours needs to be walked after a race, a singer needs to cool down as well.
Q: How do I get my friends involved?
FP: Once you have put in the work it takes to get good, go out and jam with other musicians. Invite your friends to come. However, it’s important you put in the time to be good - or they won't be back for a second listen.
