Devout vegan and merch guy/tour manager to the likes of Vanna, TREOS, Thorn for Every Heart, and Unearth, Chris O'Neil talks about how to keep a healthy vegan diet on the road.

"Touring and being vegan may be discouraging at times like when the rest of the group is getting fat and full at Burger King and you've got an empty stomach. The main thing to do to avoid situations like that is to plan ahead and stock up on canned/packaged foods that don't need to be refrigerated and it will make your vegan life on the road pretty easy. Also be aware of where you are, where you're going to be, if it is veg friendly there, if there are grocery stores or subways nearby, etc.

I go to grocery stores more often on tour than when I am at home. I usually buy a bunch of cans of vegetarian chili or baked beans. Simply Asia makes a vegan noodle bowl that always works for a quick meal, and you can microwave it at a convenience store or truck stop.

If you're looking to eat at a restaurant that has some vegan options, go to Happycow.com or VegGuide.org and chances are you can find a veg restaurant somewhere close by. Whenever you get a chance to go to a sweet vegetarian restaurant, don't be afraid to spend some cash to get a good meal. It will keep you healthy and it is always good to have an actual meal once in a while. Also check out some vegan forums such as veganfreaks.net/forum and you can hook up with some people that would probably want to get lunch with you.

If the band you are traveling with happens to have a catering budget for the show, just call the promoter in advance and let them know you've got some vegans traveling with you and you need vegan meals for those people. The promoter most likely has dealt with bands that have vegans with them in the past and they'd be more than happy to hook you up with a vegan meal or directions to a vegan friendly restaurant." -Chris O'Neill

Who's seen Grandma's Boy? Do I need to cut out the scene with Shiloh and post it as a reply?
