When Girls Kiss Girls emerged from the pieces of a few Massachusetts bands. First appearing as Hope For Tomorrow in 2005 and later changing to it’s current name in the summer of 2006. Over the past two years, the band as grown from becoming a high school hobby into a serious endeavor. The band completed its current line up in the fall of 2006 and joined a local Boston Indie label, Red Rover Records. The band’s bold name is a statement of not only the band’s clever use of a name as a marketing point, but also a statement of nonconformity, breaking down barriers of what’s accepted socially and musically. Their music spans across several genres, allowing people of many different musical tastes to enjoy what they have to offer. The band is known for taking the extra step to connect with their fans. With everything from personal comments & messages on MySpace to even keeping a video journal in which they spend hours thinking of creative ways to entertain their fans through film as well as their music. Regardless of the media form, When Girls Kiss Girls is pioneering new ways of connecting with the people who are most important to them, their fans. Under the guidance of the launch-label Red Rover Records, When Girls Kiss Girls has acquired a strong regional following and continues to grow onto the national radar. When Girls Kiss Girls recently entered the studio with Mike McMillen (On Broken Wings, Black My Heart, Colin of Arabia) to record their first EP in June/July and is planning to release the CD late this summer and re-release with a larger label in the near future.
